DNS-Layer Security: Cisco Umbrella goes above and beyond what your firewall provides with DNS-layer security. Your computer uses DNS as the first step to connect to places on the Internet. By having Cisco Umbrella provide your DNS, every URL, website, and link you click on will be analyzed, and malicious and unwanted domains, IP addresses, and cloud applications will be blocked before a connection is ever established.
Content Filtering: Cisco Umbrella can also help you comply with internal policies or external regulations through it’s content filtering. Do you enforce acceptable web use to comply with internal policies? Are you required to meet compliance regulations for internet safety like CIPA? With Umbrella, you can effectively manage your user’s internet access through category-based content web filtering, allow/block lists, and SafeSearch browsing enforcement.

Are you complying with the NY State Shield Act?
On July 26, 2019, New York’s governor signed the “Stop Hacks and Improve Electronic Data Security” (SHIELD) Act which went into effect March 21, 2020. It amends the general business law and the state technology law in relation to notification of a security breach. The law covers all employers, individuals or organizations, regardless of size or location, which collect private information on New York State residents. It requires businesses to implement safeguards for the “private information” of New York residents and broadens New York’s security breach notification requirements.
Failure to implement a compliant information security program is enforced by the New York State Attorney General and may result in injunctive relief and civil penalties of up to $5,000 imposed against an organization and individual employees for “each violation.”
